ann's room

a snapshot of 2025

It feels quite personal posting these here. The blog now has my name attached to it, which is a big step for me. Owning my work. I'm not really sure the vibe I'm going for here, but I think posting pictures can help with my writing.

I can't believe it was still so snowy. The sky was grey every day, which really dampened my mood. I gained the most weight last winter and am determined not to let it happen again this winter.

I like this photograph. I can feel the sting and ache in my fingers from climbing when I look at this picture. Sadly my friend on the left and I no longer speak for some reason. It happened so suddenly too. I guess that's life.

The film used here was cinestill. The room I lived in was small, cozy, and full of clutter. It was the one thing in my adult life that I loved and yet was not fully mine. I lived here for 2 years, thinking back the memories are mostly positive. Having a small space to live in felt nice, although I would occasionally feel stuck and isolated.

A row of collected objects that made it feel cozy in my room.

May-June

A very memorable trip to Japan! I liked Kyoto and Otaru the best. I didn't like it while I was there because the currency was difficult to handle and it was difficult to communicate with people. Lots to say about each photo, but I think visiting the shrines was meh, too many tourists. Next time I go back to Japan I want to visit the cup noodle museum and eat more izakayas, noodles, and curry; none of that kaiseki stuff. Somehow there are no vegetable dishes in restaurants and yet in the vlogs of daily japanese life I watch they eat so many vegetables. Make it make sense.

First Denver, then Iceland. Lots of travel this year, which I never thought I would do. It pleases me when I think about all the savings from these trips. Some of them were for work. Life moved me to the east coast but I can't help but travel back out west.

My trusty yellow shoes, following me from Dublin all the way to Denver. :-)

That's the prime minister's summer residence, we joked many times.

A very muddy and slippery climb, interestingly these cliffs were where people were executed during historical times. Norse mythology, I learned, was violent and bleak. Google Valhalla to learn more.

Lots of beautiful terrain and foss, which is waterfall.

I like capturing stuff like this but I wish I did it in a more elegant way.
